STOP LYNAS!!!

An estimated 20,000 citizens together with Malaysian civil society organisations converged in Kuantan for a rally to protest against the Lynas project and to demand for a clean and safe future for Malaysia.  The Stop Lynas campaign has escalated into the biggest ever environmental issue for the country.  Participants arrived from all over the country including the east Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.

The following website will bring you to the presentation of [360 View Of Lynas] :

  4. Let's finish Lynas off and save Malaysia! We have fought tirelessly to stop Lynas over two years. We have crossed many milestones and Lynas is now fighting its own battle to survive even though the Lynas plant is still in Gebeng.

  6. I have heard before, there was a protest crowd in PENANG <3 to against Lynas in Kuantan.
And I think to keep our country safe and clean, we must not tolerate a hazardous project like the Lynas’ rare earth refinery plant to risk our environment, our health and our investment. The Stop Lynas campaign has gained momentum to become Malaysia’s biggest ever environmental campaign. The people in Kuantan and surrounding area delivered a convincing win on the Stop Lynas election platform. We have paved the way to hold the government more accountable and transparent.
    DID U KNOW?
The radioactive substances release radiation and two major toxic materials – radon gas and lead. Radon is a colorless, odorless toxic gas. When it gets into the human body through inhalation, it can damage cells and cause cancer. As for lead, many years ago petrol gas been changed from leaded to unleaded, as we didn’t want lead to be released to the air through our car exhaust. Lead can harm the nervous system, and cause brain and blood diseases.

  8. I hope that our actions (such as collecting signatures & protests) can really get the government's attention. I also hope that the government can understand that Lynas is a harmful substance that emits radiation. If the government insists to have the factory, Malaysia will become a country which is full of radiation. *sigh*

  12. I agree, all this started because of Rare Metal(RE),RE is found in ore (rock) in West Australia. The ore is mined, cleaned and crushed into sand or powder form, before being shipped to Kuantan. The journey is about 5000 km. The size of a single grain of powder can be 100 times smaller than the diameter of a strand of hair. Most RE metals are harmless, but in natural ore RE is normally mixed with the radioactive substances. During the separation process, valuable RE is extracted and exported to US, Europe and Japan, leaving behind harmful substances in Kuantan
